An idea I've not seen regarding leechers
Ok, so I've been playing FA a lot lately and of course, been dealing with the usual leechers and leavers that plague the place and thinking about it.
We all know that leechers are in there to get something for nothing right? And that they don't care how little that something is, it's something more than they'd get by not being logged in, so ANet's approach of lowering rewards won't stop it.
Everyone seems agreed that we want a way for people who do nothing, get nothing, right? So why doesn't the playing community make that happen? Instead of complaining that people don't stick it out when there are leechers, ALL leave. I know, it takes an extra two minutes of your time to get out, get in and get a new game, but if everyone does it, leechers get nothing, and stop bothering.
I know, too idealistic? Not everyone will get the message, there'll always be the hopeful leecher who finds even the chance of getting someting to be better than accepting they'll get nothing. Thinking out loud
Oh well, an actual game fix for this I've not seen but really would've thought it'd be brought up by now (maybe it's instantly erased for coming from the "W" game?) Is having an auto afk flag. Your character doesn't do anything for 1 minute and it flags as afk; you get flagged afk in a PvP mission, you get removed, and if you leave a PvP map early, you can't enter one for 20-30 minutes. There was a great idea I saw in a thread here about that, where the punishment was lessened based on how many people had already left so you're not forced to stick around once half your team's gone.
Maybe just not possible in GWs coding system?

And when people don't leave, they'll still get something. It might be less, but you said yourself that something for nothing, no matter how little it is, is better than just nothing. How in the world would that hurt leechers? It would just annoy the hell out of every1 else.
It has to be a code fix to control leeching. Tons of valid suggestions were made before, won't start repeating them all.

How about *gasp* making the rewards preformace based, or would that force all the idiots who do absolutely nothing good to quit?

It can't possibly be that difficult to grant no rewards to people who never even leave the spawn pad. That alone would pretty much stop leechers.

But then people would just leave the pad and afk elsewhere...
None of these solutions would work, as I've seen people go legitimately afk in some matches (whether disconnect or whatever), and it wouldn't be fair to kick those and not let them play for another 30 minutes.

Then use an escalating faction penalty: For every 20 consecutive seconds you spend doing nothing or staying in the spawn zone (to prevent bots that do crap like cast Healsig over and over again), your faction at the end of the game is reduced by 10%, additively, up to 100%.
I'm not in favor of systems that lock people out. It can not possibly be that difficult to come up with a heuristic that can figure out if someone did nothing for the entire game. Considering most leechers are either people that just push Enter Mission and go AFK, or have a bot effectively pushing Enter Mission for them, that alone would hurt them quite a bit.

That would just make the luxons always win, because if you let the NPCs duke it out the luxons auto-win. So all the leechers would move to luxon, and people wouldn't be able to win ever on luxon anymore, and Kurzicks would always win. Yay.
I like Riotgear's escalating faction penalty though.

what about?-
Alliance Battles"'"
Base capture - +faction
fatal blow - +faction
every 1min get +faction for every dead foe in range
-
RA
Fatal Blow = faction
damage x% of targets foe health = x2.5 per = faction
(^mabye a bit complexe^)
xxx= faction
if you leave match before first kill x amout of times you are temperly banded from PvP missions for x amount of time

Yeah, because you know RA needs to be made worse with a bunch of crappy warriors and no monks or conditions ranger.
